Donna Xia is a junior from Tuscaloosa, Ala., majoring in Chemical Engineering on the pre-med track and a member of the Randall Research Scholars Program. Currently, she conducts environmental computational chemistry research under Dr. David A. Dixon, Robert Ramsay Professor of Chemistry. Previously, she has conducted systems biology-guided metabolic engineering research in Dr. Margaret X. Liu’s lab (formerly at The University of Alabama, currently at The University of Alabama-Birmingham), biomechanical engineering research in Dr. Lakeisha Williams' lab at Mississippi State University, and computational skin lipid self-assembly research under Dr. Clare McCabe, Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Engineering at Vanderbilt University. After graduation, she hopes to earn an MD–PhD that combine computational research with health to work as a physician scientist. As a research ambassador, Donna hopes to encourage others to pursue any research topics that sound interesting or intriguing.
