Anika Ames is a freshman from Greensboro, North Carolina, majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience. She is a member of the Honors College, Project Health and Gamma, and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She will join the Emerging Scholars Program in Fall 2019. Her interests in research revolve around neuroscience and social psychology. She is currently conducting studies that will give insight into how emotion affects memory. Hopefully, this research will guide medical scientists working with individuals with memory loss, why their memory may be weakening, as well as point them in the right direction to finding a cure. In her future undergraduate research endeavors, Anika hopes to continue studying neuroscience and conducting important research with graduate students in the Social Cognitive Emotive Neuroscience Lab. One day, she plans to conduct her own research concerning brain evolution for the purposes of guiding the development of more advanced medical technology.
